What to Pair with Copper

The Oscars red carpet was full of gorgeous gowns and glowing faces, highlighting A-listers in their finest. While red had a significant presence, neutrals seemed to take center stage. One of my favorites was Jennifer Lopez in Ellie Saab (image by Hollywood Reporter). Her signature deep-cut neckline was balanced by a full flowing skirt, sprinkled with delicate and elaborate embellishment. Most of all I love the color. Some call this dress “blush,” but to me it looks more like a bronzer. 😉 Complementing her skin tone, the coppery hue looks fresh and coincidentally photographed perfectly against the Oscars backdrop!

Copper is slowly creeping its way into color palettes throughout fashion, home, and graphics. Its cousin, rose gold, has been holding steady for a while and has definitely made an impact in jewelry. Below I’ve explored a warm and cool color palette with copper as a main element. I like the tonal elegance of copper with burgundy when paired with a deep charcoal grey.

Marine blue and copper create a complementary combo that’s vibrant and rich. A lighter grey enhances the contrast and adding turquoise keeps the palette fresh.

I’m looking forward to seeing if J-Lo’s gown creates a clamoring for copper!
