Today marks the Chinese Lunar New Year, starting the year of the snake. In China the holiday is traditionally celebrated with a Lantern Festival, full of illuminated lanterns in the form of orante shapes and animals. Dallas recently had its own first-time ever Chinese Lantern Festival held at Fair Park. The display lasted several months and lured me in during its final weekend in January (along with many other eager viewers!). Here are some photos I snapped of the beautifully elaborate lanterns.
